Test cricket turns 140 years old. Google celebrate with Doodle



Google is celebrating 140 years of test cricket today. It has dedicated a google doodle to celebrate this ocassion. Image shown above is the dedicated doodle and if you hover your mouse on the image you can see '140th Anniversary of the First Cricket Test Match' getting displayed.
 
The first official test match was played in 1877 between England and Australia. The historical ground which hosted this match was Melbourne Cricket Ground famously known as MCG.


Interesting facts:
  • MCG hosted the first match played ever in history of cricket.
  • First ball was bowled by Alfred Shaw.
  • Charles Bannerman played the first ball of the match as opening batsman.
  • Australia defeated England by 45 runs.
